A bit about Darla J Fanton :
    Darla At home
  • Darla's more than 20 year history as a Needlework designer is impressive enough. It was in 1998 that Darla began focusing her talents on the double-ended and Tunisian hooks, as part of her continuing exploration of Crochet's Rich Traditions. It is thanks to her efforts and many leaflets and contributions to magazines and books that these forms of crochet have had new life breathed into them. Soon, she will be sharing with you her plans for Hair Pin Lace crochet.

  • Teaching and Sharing Crochet's Rich Traditions are truly Darla's greatest joy. Her Patterns truly reflect what happens when you combine expertise, dedication, innovation, with Darla's legendary passion for teaching. She is always honored when so many of her students return at events such a CGOA's annual Chain Link Conference, giving her the opportunity to further share her knowledge and expertise.

In addition to her work in Crochet, during her career Darla has been the sole author of over 60 plastic canvas leaflets. She has contributed numerous crochet, cross-stitch, knitting and needlepoint designs to magazines and multi-author books.

  • In 1992, Darla was awarded Certified Craft Designer Status by the Society of Craft Designers (now merged into the designer council of the CHA - The Craft & Hobby Association). She is an active member of CGOA-The Crochet Guild of America, where she served as the chair for the Professional Development Committee from 2002-2005. Darla is a Designer Member TNNA-The National NeedleArts Association.

  • Darla's publication credits include magazines such as Crochet!, Crochet Fantasy, and Crochet World as well as leaflets by publishers such as American School of Needlework, Leisure Arts, and Jeanette Crews.

  • When Darla's nationwide teaching schedule allows, she is often found shopping or teaching at her local yarn store, The Knitting Bee, offering ideas and inspiration through several Internet Crochet groups; and, of course, enjoying life in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, two cats, and a yarn stash nearly as large as some of the mountains of the region.
